The past few weeks… I’ve been watching people all around me, lovely normal people comparing themselves to other people, or who they think they should be or who they think they should look like. And then what happens? They feel bad about themselves and make choices that don’t honor who they are.Quinoa-Breakfast_0047And it makes me so sad every time I see a person reject themselves…

Do you know what I mean?

Because when anyone compares their body, business, job, bank account, relationship… whatever, to others – well, then they are really just rejecting yourself, aren’t they?

We all know that rejecting ourselves isn’t good news. And comparing ourselves to others surely isn’t either.

And I get it… I used to compare myself A LOT. I think most of us do. We just don’t talk about it.

Right?

And so this crazy comparing cycle continues.

I see it a lot here in NYC and everywhere I travel.

Girls who are 15. Women who are 50. Boys who are 28. And so forth…

So, instead of comparing ourselves to others, how about doing a few nice things this week? Here are a few that I’m going to be doing… what will do you for yourself this week?

Buying myself fresh flowers.

Treating myself to an organic green juice every day.

Staying positive. Because… it’s not easy if your health flops but stay strong and move on. I’m happy to honestly say that It’s OKAY to say that you had a bad day or that your life isn’t easy. I know what it’s like when you’re stuck not feeling well with nowhere to turn and you feel like you are going to a million doctors but no one is helping you… when you are spending all of your waking hours dedicated to your health.

I know.

I get it.

But you can go beyond that.

And treat yourself to something every day.

Even if it’s just a little sunshine or a sunflower.

Go ahead, you can do it.

And then you can dig into this fabulous gluten-free breakfast.

I mean, come on now, it’s not every day you get to enjoy a tasty quinoa breakfast, is it? Sit down, take a few extra minutes to savor your first meal of the day before you rush out the door and then  go treat yourself to something special… even if it’s just a nice bottle of seltzer with a fresh lemon.

…how does that sound to you?

This article was a pleasure to read. I grew up heavyset and others made sure I knew this everyday. This was hard to deal with, but somehow I turned the other cheek and grew into a wiser mother after marrying my best friend who overlooked any negative. I now have a stepdaughter and two young boys and teach then the positive in life and to overlook the tainted side. Thank you for this wonderful look on the good! And as a PB fan…and the family, we hope to win the giveaway! Thank you again and God Bless!!

I love this post. I’m tired of comparing myself to others. Frankly, I’m tired of comparing myself to myself – I can’t do the same things in the same way that I did 10 years ago! The only thing I can do – that any of us should do – is take each day and make it the best day that it can be. And today, that means I’m going to buy myself some flowers!!!
